New Venue. Same Dates, Same City.

FlightSimExpo 2024 will be held at The Rio on June 21-23, 2024.

This page was last updated on February 23, 2024.

We are happy to announce that FlightSimExpo 2024 will be held at Rio Las Vegas over the originally planned dates: June 21-23, 2024. The agreement with Rio was signed late today, and follows three weeks of long nights, in-depth discussions, communication with our partners, and input from the community, including the survey where 77% of more than 600 respondents recommended Rio as the new venue for our show.

There is no action required from FlightSimExpo attendees at this time. Please wait to book at Rio and/or cancel room deposits at the Tropicana.

The information below is preliminary and some details may be subject to change. We wanted to share the exciting news as quickly as possible.

FlightSimExpo attendees will enjoy a discounted rate on rooms in the newly renovated Ipanema Tower, featuring 600-square-foot standard rooms, new furnishings and fittings, and sleeper sofas. Rooms at Rio are $149 on Friday and Saturday, and $69 on other nights, plus taxes and fees—less than the original room block rate at Tropicana.

Courtesy of Tropicana, FlightSimExpo attendees who book at Rio Las Vegas using our discounted room link will enjoy a $25 credit per booked room toward food and beverage at the venue. Additionally, attendees holding a current reservation in our original block at Tropicana will receive a full refund along with a $25 rideshare voucher covering travel from the airport to Rio. Please see below for more information.

In the next few days, we’ll be updating our website with details about Rio, along with a link to make room reservations in the renovated Ipanema Tower.

We want to thank the flight simulation community, our event partners, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors’ Authority, the Rio, and staff at Tropicana, all of whom have been exceptionally responsive and helpful in this difficult time. Their efforts helped us secure a new venue and associated show services within just 25 days.

Long considered a Las Vegas icon, the Rio Hotel & Casino began a total transformation of the resort in October 2023. Since then, resort-wide improvements have been introduced, including dynamic dining experiences, fully refreshed public spaces (including the pool), and a complete renovation of more than 1,400 rooms in the Ipanema Tower. Along with more than 15 full- and quick-service restaurants including a new food hall, there are four on-property shows including Penn & Teller, WOW - The Vegas Spectacular, and Comedy Cellar.

Our team conducted a site inspection earlier this month and feels confident attendees will love the new venue. We look forward to seeing you there!

For Attendees Booked at Tropicana:

If you have a room reservation and paid deposit at Tropicana, no action is currently required. Once a room booking link is available at Rio, both FlightSimExpo and Tropicana will email you with instructions on transitioning your reservation. Additionally, if you have not independently canceled your reservation, you will receive a $25 rideshare voucher to help cover your travel from the airport to Rio in June.

Due to data privacy regulations, it won’t be possible to transfer your reservation directly. You will receive a full refund on your room deposit from Tropicana and will be sent a link to re-book at Rio at the lower rate as soon as this link becomes available.

Should you choose to cancel your reservation with the Tropicana directly, you may not be eligible for the $25 rideshare voucher.

For Attendees Booked at Other Properties, and Attendees Waiting to Book a Hotel:

We strongly encourage you to book at the newly renovated rooms in Rio’s Ipanema Tower once our booking link becomes available. Along with enjoying a discounted rate of approximately $172/night (includes taxes/fees for a Thursday-Sunday stay), attendees can expect a $25 credit per booked room toward food and beverage at Rio.

Rio is located one block off the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road.

If you have booked a non-refundable room reservation at another property in Las Vegas and are concerned about transportation between your current reservation and Rio, please reach out to us.

For Partners:

All existing sponsorship and exhibitor agreements will be honored, with no changes to pricing for booths or additional services. We have already received an updated floorplan diagram from our show services vendor and will be locating exhibit booths as closely as possible to the original layout. You will have the opportunity to review your booth placement and make any changes in the coming days.

Thank you again for the ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at Rio on June 21-23, 2024. For more information, please see our Frequently Asked Questions or join us in Discord.

Regards,

The FlightSimExpo Team
